Rio Grande Hotel (Creede)

Mineral County

The Rio Grande Hotel was constructed circa 1892 to relieve the extreme housing shortage resulting from the area’s silver mining boom.  The hotel was one of only a few wood structures to survive the town’s devastating 1892 fire.

A photo of the hotel from an angle looking up toward the building with long walls, gabled roof, and elevated porch covered by an open balcony with white railing. On the right of the photo stand two people facing right.
