Cañon City Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Depot

Fremont County

Constructed in 1909, the depot played a prominent role in the conveyance of passengers and freight on the D&RG route through the Royal Gorge.

Cañon City Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Depot 

The city’s merchant association launched the campaign to persuade the railroad company to build this more substantial brick depot as a replacement for a small, undistinguished wood frame building.
