Loveland State Armory Building

Larimer County

During the 1920s, community boosters in Loveland spearheaded a successful effort to establish a National Guard unit in town, primarily as an economy-building and patriotic measure.  The 1926 building served for 35 years as the headquarters and training facility for local units of the National Guard.

The building is a good local example of the Late Gothic Revival style, a style often used in armory design.  It is also an important example of the work of Denver architect Sidney G. Frazier, who in addition to his professional career, was a captain in the Colorado National Guard.
