Empson Cannery

The original facility, constructed in 1889 by John Howard Empson, was destroyed by fire in 1891.

Empson Cannery

The existing building dates from 1901.  The cannery was Longmont’s largest employer at the turn of the century and had a positive influence on the local economy for eighty years.
