East Side Historic District

Boulder County

The district symbolizes the early period of growth as well as later development that took place on the east side of Longmont.  The district sits within the oldest residential area of Longmont and is associated with the "colony" period of the community’s development.

East Side Historic District

During the 1880s and 1890s, it was the place of residence for many of the town’s prominent citizens.  Later buildings illustrate neighborhood economic change.  With the exodus of many of the wealthy residents to the new, more fashionable west side, the east side evolved into a middle class neighborhood.  The district contains the city’s finest examples of the ItalianateQueen Anne, and Edwardian styles of architecture.
