Orlando Flats

Denver County

Constructed in the Five Points area by architect / builder John H. Barnes in 1892, Orlando Flats is one of Denver’s better surviving examples of late 19th century lower income housing.

A view of the long building from a slight angle with rough brick-work first floor, including large arched windows and central door as well as two stories of terraced floors above and ornate top.

The city’s Householder’s Directories from the 1890s show residents as being exclusively employed in low wage labor positions.  The first floor of the three-story brick building is faced with stone, and the building was originally divided into thirty-four small apartments.
