Lowry Field Brick Barracks
Denver County
The barracks represents America’s militarization program in response to the increasing international military threats in the Pacific and Europe in the late 1930s and early 1940s. At the time of its construction in 1940, the building was one of the nation’s largest military barracks.
It reflects the Spanish Revival style as interpreted by military architects and applied to a massive brick institutional housing facility late in the style’s period of popularity.
