The Sickelbower farm near Hartman in Prowers County was first settled in 1895 by Owen and Ellen Cox, who came here from Illinois. They passed the farm on to their daughter, J. Verna who married Rudolph Sickelbower. The farm is now owned by Richard and Ann Sickelbower; Richard is the great grandson of the original homesteaders. The family will also be receiving the historic structures award for several  buildings dating back to the turn of the century.
