The San Carlos Ranch, located on over 3000 acres near Beulah in Pueblo County, has been home to three generations of the Fass family. The ranch was started in 1889 when Fred Fass and his wife Katherine long with Fred,s sister Elizabeth Billington and her husband W.H. Billington purchased 160 acres to form the San Carlos Ranch and Cattle Company. In 1908 Fred and Katherine bought out the Billington's share, and, over the years, they steadily added surrounding land. Their son Harvey and his wife Mildred later inherited the ranch and they, in tum, passed it onto their son Louis Fass and his wife Peggy. The Fass family is also being given the historic structures award for several original buildings that are still in use.
