Round Ranch

Otero County

The Round Ranch encompasses nearly 12,000 acres located about 18 miles southwest of La Junta in Otero County. The Round ranch was started in 1890 by George B. Round, who began a sheep and cattle operation that continues today. Over the years, the ranch and its operation was handed down first to George Round's son, Ralph Franklin Round, and later to his son, Ralph D. Round. The Round family is also being given the historic structures award for the preservation of several 19th century buildings including an old bunk house and wool barn.
