Ivan & Joan Greim Farm

Weld County

The Grein Farm, which encompasses 360 acres in Weld County near Brighton, is another farm celebrating its centennial this year. The farm got its start in 1892 when it was purchased by John Delventhal and his brother Herman. In 1894, John Delventhal married Anna Windler, and raised 8 children on the farm. The farm was passed on to their daughter, Minnie Delventhal Grein, after her marriage in 1931. Today, the farm is owned by Minnie's son, Ivan, and his wife, Joan; they still raise wheat, corn and alfalfa and keep some of the land in pasture for their dairy operation in Adams County. The Grein family is also receiving the historic structures award for the older buildings that are still in use.
