The Gonzales Ranch is located in Conejos County between Capulin and La Jara. It was originally settled as early as 1870 by Jose Victor Gonzales, who homesteaded the property. Jose Victor lived there along with his wife, Magdalena, where they raised hay, alfalfa and grain. The ranch now includes 240 acres and is currently owned and operated by Jose Victor and Magdalena's grandchildren, Leo B. & Maria M. Gonzales.
