Lon and Tillie Filoon House
Prowers County
The 1909 Lon and Tillie Filoon House is an excellent example of a Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Movement style house with Classical Revival influences.
Features typical of early twentieth-century architecture include the home’s front-gable roof with wide-overhanging boxed flared eaves and gabled dormers, large front porch, and six inset horseshoe arches—a rare feature in Lamar. The Doric columns add a Classical Revival element. A construction contractor by trade, Lon Filoon likely built the house for himself and his family.
