The Woodring Ranch, encompassing over 2000 acres in Huerfano County near La Veta, is also celebrating its centennial this year. The ranch got its start in 1893 when Henry Woodring purchased 160 acres from Homer Barnard. Under the ownership of Henry and his wife Lula, the ranch grew through many additional small purchases over the years. The ranch is still owned by Henry and Lula's son and daughter-in-law, Ewell and Lucille Woodring, and is currently operated by their son James Willcox.
