Ward Congregational Church - Ward Community Church

Boulder County

Built in 1896, the Ward Congregational Church is a prominent landmark in town, being one of the oldest unaltered buildings and the largest building in Ward. To build the church where it stands today, builders needed to blast a flat surface into the granite hill. Since its creation, the building has served the community as a church—just as it does to this day.

Due to the building’s unique location, its rear wall has suffered damage from a rockslide. This grant will fund the effort to stabilize the foundation, clear the back wall, and then rehabilitate it as needed. Preserving this church will allow it to continue to play an active role for the congregation and the community as a whole—as it is still used for public gatherings and ceremonies.
