Sacred Heart Church (Elbert)

Elbert County

Originally built half a mile south of the town of Elbert, a devastating flood in 1935 nearly swept the building away and resulted in its move to higher ground east of town.  The church is a striking local expression of the Gothic Revival style.

A black and white photo of the church with hipped roof below gabled roof and chimney on the side. On the opposite side is a bell tower with cross on top.
