Photography & Armament School Building, Lowry Air Force Base

Denver County

The 1942 buildings, located on the grounds of the former Lowry Air Force Base, played an important role in military history through the 1953 end of the Korean War.  The Armament School was the only such Army facility in the western United States.

A view of the building from a distant direct perspective with a long path with a couple fountains leading to the center of the building, which has long stratified levels on the sides and tall vertical windows in the center.

The Photography School was the Army’s only such facility before serving as the only Army Air Corps photography school in the western United States.  Good examples of the International Style, the buildings are associated with the period when military architecture reflected the growing technological power of the United States Army, particularly in the Air Corps.
