Centennial Farms & Ranches

McClave Ranch, Inc.

Bent County

The McClave ranch encompasses over 550 acres in Bent County near the town of McClave, which was named after this ranching family. The ranch celebrates its centennial this year, since it was just 100 years ago that three McClave brothers and two sisters began homesteading land in the area. Over the years, the two sisters and two of the brothers sold their shares of the ranch to the third brother, Bayard Taylor  McClave. The ranch later was passed on to his wife Ruby, and then to their son George McClave, Sr. It is now owned and operated by B.T. McClave's grandchildren. In addition to cattle operations; alfalfa, sorghum and wheat are grown. The Mcclave family is also receiving the historic structures award for several original buildings.
