The Lengel Ranch near Burlington was homesteaded in 1886 by Elizabeth Gutting (Gooding), who was just 20 years old at the time. She married Jonathan Lengel seven years later. The ranch is currently owned and operated by Elizabeth's grandson, Edgar Lengel and his wife Arnetta. Today about 250 acres of the 320 acre farm are used to raise wheat, corn and alfalfa.
