IOOF Hall / Crest Theater

Mesa County

The two-story building was constructed as a meeting hall by the Odd Fellows in 1900.  Beginning in 1918, movies were shown in the first floor space, and the building served as the social and entertainment center for the surrounding area into the early 1930s.

The hall is an excellent example of the use of pressed metal as cladding for a wood frame structure.  Side walls are clad in a coursed stone pattern, and façade components include engaged columns, stylized floral motifs, and a projecting cornice with a fleur de lis and swag motif.
