Hildebrand Ranch

Jefferson County

The approximately five-acre district is located within the boundaries of the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Chatfield Arboretum.  Settled by Frank Hildebrand in 1866, the family’s farming and ranching operation reportedly encompassed over 2,500 acres of owned or leased land by 1943.

The significant cluster of more than a dozen surviving buildings and structures associated with the development of the ranch are located on the north bank of Deer Creek.  Among the most interesting is the clapboard covered farmhouse which consists of an 1860s central core of log construction and circa 1880 wood frame additions on the east and west.
