Frank Bjorklun Farm

Phillips County

The Bjorklun Farm encompasses 640 acres near Holyoke, producing wheat and corn. It was homesteaded in 1888 by August Emil Bjorklun and his family. Back then the main source of income was raising and breaking horses. August kept around 40 head of brood mares at all times, and in 1913 bought a stallion from France for $3000. When August retired and moved to Haxtun, his son, Frank, moved onto the farm. Frank still lives there with his wife Clara. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on July 3rd.
