The Flick Ranch encompasses over 300 acres along Quartz Creek near Parlin in Gunnison County. The Ranch was established when John Madison Flick came to the Gunnison country hoping to find gold, but instead found his fortune in the rich soils of Quartz Creek. John began homesteading in 1881 and a year later was joined by his bride, Susan McCracken. The lush Quartz Creek pastures have, from the beginning, supported a prosperous cattle operation, along with other livestock and bountiful family gardens. The Flick family are also receiving the historic structures award for several historic buildings including the original log ranch house dating to the 1880s.
