The D&RGW used No. 3006, along with its other GP-30s, throughout Colorado for all types of rail service, including both passenger and freight operations.  While not the last GP-30 to be retired in the late 1990s, No. 3006 was the last GP-30 to be sold by the D&RGW’s successor company, the Union Pacific Railroad.
