Gale Norton

The first woman elected Attorney General of Colorado, Gale Norton went on to serve as Secretary of the US Department of the Interior—the first female leader in the department’s 150-year history. She led efforts that resolved seventy-year-old interstate disputes on the Colorado River and instituted a water conservation program across the West, while championing the president's Healthy Forest Initiative and Cooperative Conservation. Norton holds a B.A., J.D., and honorary Ph.D. from the University of Denver and an honorary doctorate from the Colorado School of Mines. In 2014, DU Law School honored her with its Outstanding Alumni Award.
