Astrid Lee Returns

The Lost Book of Astrid Lee

SEE (AND HEAR) YOUR CITY WITH NEW EYES (AND EARS)

A three-week-long city-wide mystery-quest stretching back from 1980s Denver, into the 1920s, stopping in the late 60s, then all the way back again. Co-created with Denver artist, filmmaker, and all-around-swell-guy Andrew Novick. The quest is an opportunity to hear music from local musicians and a chance to see all-original creations from artists. Come see places in Denver that tell us about the city's past (and what might be possible for it in the future).

Denver Calling

The Lost Book of Astrid Lee (vol 2)

So just what is, "Denver Calling: The Lost Book of Astrid Lee (vol 2)"?

  • A three-week-long, self-guided, city-wide Mystery Quest, beginning Friday, September 3;
  • A circumbendibus historical deviation that begins in the 1980s, then gallops even further back into the 1920s (to stick a toe into the 1910s), zooming ahead quicker than a hiccup to the late 60s and all the way back again;
  • Co-created with Denver artist, filmmaker, and all-around-swell-guy Andrew Novick;
  • A way to hear fresh music from local superstars Distance Walk, Felix Fast4ward, Michelle Roquet (Milk Blossoms), and Kalyn Heffernan (Wheelchair Sportscamp);
  • A chance to see all-original creations from artists Lonnie Allen, Don Austin, Roxann Diffin, Emily Hope Dobkin, Cassandra Elaine, Thea Hunt, and the students from Arts Street;
  • An opportunity to learn what the places around us—as well as all the places that were places, but really aren't places anymore—tell us about how Denver has changed from the past;
  • A look at what we can pull from Denver's then into Denver now, to help us figure out how we get more of a say about what it’s going to be;
  • Probably the most fun you will have this summer outside of a pool;
  • All of the above.
